OFF SHORE
Safe upon the shoreline,
My contentment felt secure
As I engaged with the acquaintance
Of another bounded to the shore
Jointly we combed the dunes
To discovered glories within the sand,
Then seductive waves beckoned call
As the ocean extended its hand
Wading into the wanting of it
Succumbing to the surf
CarelesslyI let it carry me
Pardoning questions of its worth
Effortlessly as I floated
Until my feet was without floor
Emotions became the buoy,
Sustaining the drifting of my core
But the ocean was not a friend to me,
Now aware of my solo essence,
and wading back in knee-deep waves,
Stood still HOPE, alongside of his presence,
Punctured was the buoy beneath me
But unyielding to a deep-water dread
So aspirations and resilience remains,
As I wonder how long must I tread...
